Elinor Midlik, President of Prime UV Systems, a "Green" provider to the Printing Industry receives Harold W. Gegenheimer Award.
NPES, the Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, awarded Elinor R. Midlik, president of Prime UV Systems, Inc. the 2007 Harold W. Gegenheimer Award for service to the Printing Industry at the NPES Annual Conference, held November 2007 in San Diego, California. Ms. Midlik was honored with the individual award for her active involvement in the printing industry during the past twenty-five years, and her participation and leadership in the NPES association including serving on the Board or Directors, the Show Policy, Strategic Planning, and Programs and Meetings committees, and as Chair of the Government Relations Committee.
"Our industry is a collaborative one. Twenty years ago, when Prime UV developed our high speed Prime UV curing system to eliminate VOCs and air pollutions emissions on web presses, we needed to work with press manufacturers and the UV formulation suppliers to develop the processes that would enable printers to run UV inks and coatings at speeds of 2000 fpm and more. We truly appreciate how all the participants in the printing industry are dependent on each other. All the technical innovations we introduced since that time have been with the help and support of our printing customers, other suppliers and our employees. I owe many, many thanks to so many people in the printing industry", said Midlik. "Elinor's steadfast leadership and guidance have been invaluable to NPES over the years," said NPES President Ralph J. Nappi. "We appreciate this opportunity to express our thanks to her and look forward to her ongoing involvement." Elinor R. Midlik founded Prime UV Systems in 1988 to eliminate VOCs and air pollution emissions in the printing, coating, and converting industries. Her mission, to replace old-fashioned drying methods with environmentally friendly UV curing has been adopted in the web printing industry, most recently by newspaper and book printers. "We serve a global printing industry," Ms. Midlik states. "We are installing Prime UV systems on newspaper presses in Russia, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Brazil, Mexico, in many countries of Europe as well as at many companies in the United States. There is an international drive toward elimination of pollutants. Printers everywhere want Prime UV's green technology and we, at Prime UV, are dedicated to sharing our technical expertise."
